Old Mill & River

Welcome To Martintown

Martintown Ontario Canada is located in Eastern Ontario on the shores of the Raisin River. The name of the river was anglicised from of the earlier French settler name "la rivière aux Raisins", which referred to the wild grapes (raisins in French) that can still be found growing along the shores of the river(ref. wiki). Martintown is about fifteen miles from The Seaway International Bridge to New York State, is about an hour's drive from Ottawa Ontario and about an hour and a quarter from Montreal Quebec. Canoe Races - Sunday April 22, 2012

In April of every year, hundreds of canoeists and spectators decend on Martintown for the annual canoe races sponsored by The Raisin Region Conservation Authority. The success of the races is highly dependent on the weather and the level of the water. In earlier days, the village was awash with spectators, concession carts and enthusiasm. As of late, the weather simply has not cooperated and crowds have been sparse. For more information, please visit the RRCA site
